PGM at Carlisle

20th June 2013

As our PGM, Peter Connolly, enjoys the 'closed season', he along with other members of the executive are travelling around the country supporting the other Mark Provinces as they hold their Provincial Meetings.

Last Week they were in North Wales and next week it's Durham. On Thursday the 20th June, (this week), he was at Carlisle Race Course for the meeting of Cumberland and Westmorland Mark Province.

He was pleased to be accompanied by VW Bro. Keith Beardmore (deputy), W. Bro's Ian Nairn (Asst), Geoffrey Lee (Sec), Stuart Brackstone, Michael Davies and Jimmy Rogers, all members of West Lancashire and Grand Lodge. A very successful meeting, with some 300 present, but - VERY, VERY HOT!

Afterwards dinner was served at the Auctioneer, adjacent to the cattle market: a 10/15 minutes drive away.

On Friday morning the PGM and his wife Lynne accompanied RW Bro Rev Trevor Walker, (PGM Lincs) and his wife, also called Lynne, to the Tullie house museum in Carlisle. This was to see the Masonic exhibition 'Into the Light'. FASCINATING, quite complimentary and manned by brethren from the province, (one of whom had been to the Mark meeting yesterday).

Pride of place went to the superb model of King Solomon's Temple, which W.Bro. Jimmy Rogers, Cleveleys Mark lodge, takes around the country for hIs lectures.

The exhibition was full of regalia etc etc etc! However a stunning coat, or costume, for Sorastro from a 2008 production of the Magic Flute at the Royal Opera house, struck the PGM as more impressive than his own kit!

The lighter coloured  coat, to the right, was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier as an impressive finish to one of  his famous fashion shows in the late '80s. It has masonic symbols on it: the all seeing eye, the radiance of the sun and a hand etc.

Well worth the visit! Closes 7th July!!!
